Our movement has achieved some important victories. The British National Party’s (BNP) vote collapsed last year. In autumn, thousands of anti-fascists mobilised to defeat and demoralise the EDL when they attempted to march through Walthamstow. The recent worldwide protests against the fascist Golden Dawn party in Greece were led by tens of thousands in Athens. We cannot be complacent. As the impact of the economic downturn deepens, there is a danger that electoral support for fascism could easily grow again as it has in other European countries, with Golden Dawn in Greece and the Front National in France polling record votes this year.
Conference themes include:
Opposing the far right and fascism  Challenging Islamophobia and institutional racism Celebrate the reality of multicultural Britain  Making European parliament fascist-free in 2014  Islamophobia and the media  Europe against fascism – no to Golden dawn  Extradition and the Muslim community  Stopping racism in sport  What is racism?  Un iting against homophobia and racism  Cities against racism  No Platform for fascists on campus  Impact of foreign policy on British Muslim communities  Love Music Hate Racism
The conference will bring together parliamentarians, trade unionists, faith representatives, Black communities, LGBT groups, students and all those who oppose fascism and racism to co-ordinate action against racism and fascism over the year ahead. In order to take part in the Unite Against Fascism AGM you must be a paid-up individual member or affiliate by Saturday 23 February 2013 – to join/affiliate now please visit: our website.
